Cheers!

Brian picked Janie up from her apartment and he drove to wherever he planned on taking her to. There was a cooler in the backseat and some blankets.
"Where are we going?"
"Some place where it's quiet and you can see twinkling lights."
"Twinkling lights? Stars?"
"Yup."
The got to the Adirondack Public Observatory, "Here we are. We have to go inside first and we'll get to see the stars with their powerful telescope."
The two of them went into the building and sure enough someone directed them to go to the roof. Janie and Brian was the only couple there. There were some people there enjoying their night too. After an hour of looking at the stars, Brian took Janie to the next thing on their schedule. It was dark and cold now. Brian drove to the Adirondack State Park where he parked his car by the edge of a hill. He uncovered his convertible and grabbed the cooler behind them. He turned on the lights of the car and they pulled out the food and a small bottle of champagne from the cooler. "Open the glove compartment." He ordered Janie. She opened it to see two champagne glasses, she laughed.
"I'm trying to be classy here."
"No-no. I laughed because I feel like you got this all planned out."
"I did. I made this food last week."
"What?"
"No-no! I ate it last week and have to make it this week. I'm not gonna make you eat moldy food."
Janie softly laughed. "I should've let you finish your sentence."
"Tell me about it." Brian was pouring the champagne in the glasses. "Here." He handed her her glass. "Let's make a toast to you and Logan's break up. Cheers!"
Janie smiled and downed her champagne.
"I didn't bring that much, so you better ration your intake of champagne."
"I got it." And took a big bite out of her sandwich.
***
They sat there enjoying the light breeze under the blanket and watched as the night got even darker. They heard a crumpling noise in the bushes and that alerted them. "Oh god. The animals are coming out now."
"They probably smell your crumb sprinkled lips."
"What are you talking about? There's crumbs on me?"
"Yeah. Here let me get it." He swiped the crumbs off of Janie's mouth.
"Thanks." Just then Janie and Brian locked eyes with each other. He looked at her with alluring eyes. Janie looked away.
"I think we should go now. The roof is down and we don't know what will jump in here."
"Yeah." Brian started the car.

Returning the Goods

The next morning Janie went to check online about the Korean company and went back to them to remind them they have an appointment with Logan. They nodded and stood there welcoming the people walking by. Janie went back to the company to quickly type up her report. She went to the accounting branch and asked them to help her with the finance part of her report. They helped her a little, but Janie had to go to Morgan and ask her to get Julien's opinion. Janie finally got her report done and brought it down to Logan's office by 1:30pm.

Kristin greeted her, "Here to bring the report?" She glared at Janie. "Yeah."
"You can just give it to me." Kristin held her hand out. Logan's door suddenly opened.
"No. Give it here, Janie." She stepped over to him and handed it to him; he pulled her in the room with him.
"Seems like good work." he threw the folder on the sofa. He walked over to his desk, "Have a seat." He pointed to the chair in front.
"Why'd you throw my report?"
"Well, I'm expecting a good report anyway so do I have to look over it or something?"
"No, but shouldn't you leave it on your desk or something?"
"No. I'll be over there talking to those guys anyway so why leave it over here?"
Janie had no comment.
"So, I see you dropped off the $33,000 check and your dresses the other day to my office. Kristin asked what it was and I didn't know how to answer her. You see, you shouldn't have done that because it was kinda of a secret and now she knows."
"Well, I couldn't get a hold of Hunter so I dropped it off here."
"No-no."
"Well, it's too late now. Sorry for leaving it here. I didn't want to drive all the way to your home and drop it off."
"Fair enough. Why did you return those things anyway?"
"I feel like I didn't earn the $33,000 or those dresses. I seemed to have revealed and ruined things."
"As you should."
Janie pressed her lips together and rolled her eyes.
Logan smiled when he spotted her rolling her eyes.
There was a knock on the door and the guys of the Korean company came in to present their project to Logan. Janie went back to her desk.

Retaliation

Logan came the second day of the convention to speak about Anderson Inc. and how the company evolved to become more technology oriented. After the presentation the whole group joined together at a cafe outside of the convention center. Janie and Jake sat next together and chatted. Tom was practically best friends with the other two guys from the engineering department. The coffees were on Logan because he wanted to treat them. But he sat with Kristin.
"So did everybody see any good companies?" Logan asked.
The engineering guys shared and Tom talked about the companies him and Janie looked at. The business group didn't have any input but they garnered the money information from the companies.
"What about you, Janie?" Logan asked. "Any companies stood out for you?"
"Well, Tom already went over it. I thought those companies were good. Like the ... one had this great idea of ... And the Korean company that came over to get global attention, I think they stood out to me."
"Good good."
"You'll be in charge of talking to that Korean company then. Tomorrow find out what they are really about and tell them to come to our company for a meeting with me. Make a general report and have it to me by 2:00pm. I think I have a free time slot at 2:30pm, is that correct Ms. Kristin?"
"Yes." she validated. And that was that, Logan stood up and left.
"But I'm not in charge of that." Janie mumbled. "Eddie is." Tom looked at Janie with wide eyes.
"I'll help you." Jake reassured her.
"He just want to get me back for being caught by his aunt." Janie thought.
"It's okay." Janie told Jake. She stood up and walked back to the convention. She was determined to get it done as soon as possible.
She went back in and went to look for the Korean company. Tom called for Janie. He was already standing at the table and talking to them. He jotted everything down and Janie asked questions. The two of them went back to the company and Janie saved everything Tom wrote down on her computer so she could write the report tomorrow morning.

Astoria

Tom and the other two guys chatted. Jake was quiet and would sometimes glance over at Janie. Janie took this chance and tried to talk to him. "So what do you actually do at work, Jake?"
"I should ask you that." Jake replied.
"I take care of files and filing them. I enter in data and organize it. Sorting and stuff. I hate having to explain my job to people. They normally don't get it and I have to try to make it easier for them to understand."
"Don't worry. I understand."
"Right, you are pretty smart yourself, eh?"
"Yup. I'm into tech stuff too that's why they invited me to come here."
"Everyone should in this day and age, right?"
"Yeah. So,  are you the only girl in the work place?"
"Fortunately, there's another girl working with me so it's not bad. I have some company. She's not here because she didn't want to come."
"Ah. Well, you're the only girl here minus the secretary."
"Seems so."
"You're the office girl but I never seem to see you around."
"Well, I never have to deliver anything to the engineer department so that's why you never see me."
"I should give you something to deliver to us then. We're a fun group. We have some females with us."
"Oh, I should stop by during my deliveries then."
"Yeah, you should. We make cool things."
"Like what?"
"We were making ... the other day. We had to solve a problem for ... company and it's awesome. You should stop by."
"Yeah, I'll be sure to."
"By the way, where do you live?"
"Oh, I live in Williamsburg, Brooklyn."
"Where the hipsters are? Must be kinda far to get to work."
"I guess. I like the neighborhood. What about you?"
"Astoria, Queens. Closer to Manhattan."
"It must be easy breezy for you to get to work."
"I wasn't originally from New York though. I'm from Pennsylvania actually. I just recently moved here for work."
"Oh really? I'm from Virginia. My friend persuaded me to move here. She didn't like it in Virginia so she made me come up here with her. How long have you been here?"
"5 months."
"Oh. That's why I've never seen you. I've been here for a year and a half now."

Tom the Wingman

Janie and Tom went to the bar to grab a drink after hearing all that information they needed to rest and review.
"Hey, there he is."
"Who?"
"Jake the Redhead."
Janie turned around. She caught him looking at her again. They made eye contact, finally.
"Go talk to him."
"Why would I?"
"I'll call him over."
"No!"
"What I want to make friends too."
"Hey!" Tom waved his arms. The whole group of engineers looked at Tom. "Wanna join us?" Tom looked at Janie. The group walked over and sat at the bar with them. They all introduced themselves and finally Jake introduced himself to Tom and Janie. "His name is Jake." Janie thought.
"Never seen you guys at work." Tom started.
"Oh, we're like hermits. Never really leave the office unless work is over."
"Ah. I have to go to different floors all the time to fix computers or show people how to use it. I can't believe people still don't know how to use the computer at this day and age. Janie sometimes leaves the office. She's the office girl."
"Office girl?"
"Yeah, we give her papers and flash drives and she delivers them to the right place. That's not her real job though."
"Interesting." Jake said.

Redhead Engineerer

Janie texted Brian as soon as she got home. "Sorry about today. There won't be any scheduling problems. I cut it off with Logan."
"Sounds good. How about next weekend?"
"Great!"
"Wear comfy clothes."
"Got it."
***
Janie had to go to a convention at work that week. Her IT team came to TechCrunch Disrupt to look at start up businesses. Anderson Inc. was a company that helped technology related ideas come alive. The company would fund the start up business and in turn give Anderson Inc. some of the profit. Going to Disrupt was a good way to talk to people who are new.

The group consisted of 10 people including Janie. A mixture of business, engineering, and IT coming together and looking for good ideas. Logan's secretary, Kristin, told the group their schedule. As Kristin was talking and handing out lanyards, Janie noticed a guy staring at her. She made a quick glance to make sure he was actually looking at her. He looked away quickly as to not get caught by Janie. "Alright. Everyone got it?" Kristin asked. "Yes." the group answered and dispersed. Janie stuck by Tom the whole time. He worked with her on the IT floor. He was tall, lanky, and a science nerd that stumbled upon information technology. Janie and Tom had a thing but nothing serious because there was a no dating between coworkers rule in the workplace.
"I noticed that redhead guy eyeing you."
"Who?"
"The one from the engineering department."
"The tall redhead?"
"Yeah. The one as tall as me."
"Engineering department, eh?"
"Pretty smart guy."
"Must be. You know anything about him?"
"Not really. I just know that he's in the engineering department because his tag said so."
"And I thought you knew something about him."
"I do. His name is Jake."
"You saw his lanyard, didn't you?"
"No. Someone called his name."
"Oh my god." Janie punched Tom's arm. He laughed and rubbed the spot she punched.
"Let's hear what these people have to say." Tom guided Janie to a table.

John Hancock

"Explain to me this whole ordeal." Aunt Crystal crossed her arms.
"This relationship is only contractual, Aunt." Logan pleaded. "There are no strings attached. Strictly business."
"And why is that? Why did you choose this poor girl?"
Hunter interjected. "Because I chose her. She was the best candidate. You understand that Logan has been a womanizer, if you please, and she is the most innocent candidate to make the shareholders think otherwise about him."
"But if you let him have a fake relationship like that he could still carry on with his bad habits. That girl that waited for him outside! Those shareholders were there they could've noticed her!"
"I know. I am sorry. That was my mistake." Logan apologized.
"But that still does not account for this girl's tears. What is your name, sweetheart?"
"Janie. And you don't have to tell him anything. Please don't actually. We could end this now. I don't want to cause problems for you. I was thinking of quitting this whole deal, Hunter."
"We still have to take care of this problem, Janie. I am one of the big shareholders of this company and I want things to be clear and honest. I don't want this contract relationship business. It will be worse if the other holders find out that you lied to them. You two need to obliterate the contract and start a real relationship. If not Logan has to find someone else that he truly likes. But this young lady has some honest thoughts that she doesn't want to tell you so I will keep it at that. You two work that out and Hunter, you report to me tomorrow what the conclusion is." Aunt Crystal stood up and left Logan's home. Hunter told a security guard to take her home.

"Okay. $33,000 will go into your bank account, Janie by tomorrow night. If you two sign this contract you'll be done."
The two of them signed the papers and Janie stood up to leave.
"What was the honest thought that Aunt Crystal was talking about?" Logan asked.
"Nothing."
"You sure you don't want to tell me?"
"Yeah. Good night. Sorry, for causing all this ruckus. I shouldn't have went to the bathroom."
"Oh yeah, did you go into the bathroom and cried?"
"Maybe."
Janie walked out fast before Logan could catch her.

Badass Aunt Crystal

Logan held Janie for the remainder of the concert. Hunter texted Janie to hurry up and come out but Janie told him that she was help captive. The mission was aborted. The concert ended and Logan quickly went out of the theater to get Jessica. She was waiting by the doors. He held her hand and Janie just walked behind the two of them. She saw the old lady in the restroom and smiled. The old lady made her way over to Janie and pointed to Logan. She mouthed, "Is that him?" Janie shook her head which meant that she didn't want the old lady to do anything to him. The old lady knew anyway and hit Logan on the head. Logan rubbed his head and was about curse at whomever just hit him like that. He turned around to see that it was his aunt.
"Aunt Crystal?"
"That's right, you little shit." she scolded him.
"What did I do?" Logan pleaded.
"What did you do? You're asking me that? You know the answer. Who is this girl?"
"She's a friend."
"I believe your dad told me you have a girlfriend now. Where is she?"
Logan glanced at Janie and looked down at his shoes. By now everyone was standing there and watching the commotion. Janie was looking at her feet and tried to feel as small as possible.
"She standing behind you."
"Uh-huh. Behind me. Why isn't she beside you?"
"I'm just catching up with a friend."
"Why is this wrench even here? She's not a shareholder or a staff member." She pointed at Jessica.
"I'll explain at home, Auntie. Not here." Logan held her and took her to the car which Hunter was patiently waiting the whole time outside. Aunt Crystal took Janie's hand and took her with her too. Once they got to the car, Aunt Crystal pushed Jessica to the side and only the three of them got in.

The Old Lady in the Bathroom

Janie opened the bathroom door and sniffled.
"Oh come here." She hugged Janie but she wasn't able to reach very high because Janie was extra tall in her heels.
"Here use this tissue. What's wrong? Who is this boy that's making you cry?"
"I-I don't think I could talk about it."
"Why not? Letting it out makes you feel better. Just give me the general idea."
"Well. I'm dating this guy and he's always so cold to me. I try really hard to be nice to him. I think I have even softened up to him. I didn't like him before but I can see some good things about him now. But he continues to ignore me. I know he has a girl on the side but I don't say anything because I feel like that will ruin our relationship. He makes me take the taxi while that girl gets to ride in the car."
"But you didn't like him when you first went out together?"
"A friend of ours persuaded us to."
"Oh, I see. So far I don't like this guy very much."
"I want to make him like me. I dressed up in this itchy dress and he still doesn't even give me a glance. And before in there he yelled at me. I get sleepy when music is soothing like that. He always regards me as someone who's plain and has no class. I feel much better now actually."
"Good. You let it all out. I actually get sleepy from that type of music too. That's why I'm in here."
The two of them laughed. The old lady led Janie out the bathroom and the two of split to get to their seat.

Hunter texted Janie and told her to come out again to go to Brian. But as soon as Janie stood up Logan grabbed her wrist. "Where do you think you're going? You just got back."
"I'm going back out to get a quick drink. My throat feels dry."
"You aren't going anywhere."

A Concerto and Toilet

Janie got to Logan's house and Jackie and Evan were in the room waiting. "We missed you." the three of them hugged. "Did Logan say anything about you last time?"
"No. Not that I remember. He didn't even look at me."
"What? You can't be serious. How could anyone not notice you."
"Apparently he didn't notice."
"Well, we'll try harder this time."
They went to work and made Janie shine even more this time. Her dress was tight fitting and sequins everywhere. It was a backless dress, so they put her hair down to one side, and her makeup was more sultry. Hunter came in again and grabbed Janie. They went down to the car and once again Logan didn't give Janie a glance.
***
"Could you try to stay awake?" Logan elbowed Janie. She was falling asleep from the concerto. Janie tried to keep her eyes open but they kept falling. Her head started to fall to Logan's side. Logan popped his shoulder up and made Janie wake up. "You're making me look bad. Could you go to the bathroom and freshen up? God, why are you like that? Could you at least try to act high class?"

Janie excused herself and made her way out of the theater and into the bathroom. She sat on the toilet and cried. "Why am I even doing this?" she sobbed. "He's always treating me like crap."
There was a soft knock on the door. "Excuse me? Do you need a tissue?" Janie sniffed up all the snot and wiped her tears with her hands. "No. Thank you."
"Do you need to talk about it?" the old lady asked.
"I-I just need a moment."
"Come out here." She coaxed.

Surprise Cancellation

That weekend came and Janie was ready to go out with Brian. Hunter even told her she had the day to herself.
"Janie, I'm downstairs."
"Okay?"
"We have a surprise event today." Hunter replied.
"But I thought I had the day to myself today."
"Yeah, I'm sorry. We'll pay you for tonight, today."
"No. I made plans with someone."
"You're gonna have to cancel them. The shareholders all of a sudden booked a whole concert for everyone to come. Mom and Dad can't come because they're not in the country so you'll be representing them. I'm sorry."
Janie came down and Hunter was right at the elevator.
"You were guarding these elevators making sure I wouldn't escape, huh?"
"Sadly."
Janie saw Brian sitting at the chairs. He saw her too. Janie shook her head and looked down. He saw her being dragged out by Hunter so he ran after them.
"Hunter, I made plans with her tonight. Could I just have her tonight. Logan can go by himself. I'm afraid I can't do that Brian."
Hunter stuffed Janie into the car and said something to Brian. He put a hand on Brian's shoulder and then walked to the driver side. "I'll make a deal with you. You go see this concert and then I'll take you to Brian after it."
"But there's no point, is there?"
"I'll take you before it ends then."
"Okay."
"I already promised Brian. I'm on your side Janie."

Freedom in Chains

*Ding!*
Janie grabbed her phone thinking it was Suri but it was Logan. "Oh no."
She opened the message. "Yeah, I see those kids as much as I can."
"He doesn't even say anything that's reply-able."
"Good night." She texted.
He only read it and didn't reply.
"Jerk. You were nice for a second."
***
That weekend Brian texted Janie. "Hey! It's Brian. I got your number from Hunter since Logan wouldn't give it to me. You free today? Let's do something."
"Sorry, I got plans with Logan. Maybe next weekend I'll be free."
"It's okay. Text me when we could do something."
"Okay."
Janie wanted to do something with Brian instead of Logan. Janie had to go to a shareholder meeting with Logan that day and Hunter stressed that Janie had to make a good impression on them. Meaning be quiet and smile.
***
A month passed by and Janie had to go to several boring events with Logan. She went golfing, fishing, dinner parties with old people, etc. She was getting tired. Her friends couldn't even do anything with her because she was booked every weekend and weekday. It was the same routine over and over again. Logan would talk to those people. Janie would sit there and smile. When they went home Logan would drop Janie home and he would go to Jessica's. Hunter didn't have a say in Jessica, so Janie had to bare with it. Sometimes they would make Janie take a taxi home because Logan wanted to pick Jessica up for dinner. And sometimes Janie would text Logan at night telling him she had fun. But there would be no reply.
"You free yet?" Brian texted one day.
"I think this weekend for sure."
"Great! Wear something comfy."

Nah

"Let me add something to that picture." Logan grabbed a crayon and Janie's drawing. He scribbled in some horns and fans on Janie's face.
"You're bad at drawing, mister." Zoey confronted. "Janie's nice and pretty, why would you make her look like that?"
"You heard her." Janie said.
Zoey grabbed the paper and drew wings on Janie. She made the fangs into a smile and the horns as a floral crown on Janie's head. "Much better."
"You said I was fun, how come I'm the bad guy now?" Logan asked Zoey.
"You became the bad guy when you made Miss a monster."
"But she started it first and made me ugly!" Logan pointed to Janie.
"So?" Zoey said as she shrugged her shoulders.
The caretakers at the orphanage clapped their hands to get the kids' attention. "Everyone in the cafeteria!" The kids got into a straight line and went to the cafeteria for dinner.

"It's time for us to go too." Hunter said.
"Bye, Zoey! See you next time!" Zoey waved back to Janie.
Hunter and Janie went out to the car first. Logan ran back in to take a picture of Janie's drawing and went back out to the car.

"Oh, I think you need Logan's number for emergency purposes." Hunter advised Janie. "It's ..."
"She doesn't need my number. Having yours is enough."
"What if I'm not available? Who will she call then?"
***
That night Janie thought back to when she was with Zoey and Logan. Logan was being a trouper and played along. He had a caring side to him too. "Should I text him?"

"I had fun today. What about you?" Janie typed. "No. No." She changed it to: "It was fun today. You seem to be close to those kids." "Nah, I just won't text him." She threw her phone on the bed not realizing she accidentally pressed the button and sent the message.

Angry Tiger Man

"Miss Janie is drawing what she thinks is fun."
"What about you?"
"I'm drawing a tiger in a jungle."
"This is Zoey, she's only 6 and she's drawing really well."
"Yeah, I can see that. Zoey, you want to be an artist when you grow up?"
"Yes!"
"You gotta keep practicing, alright Zoey?"
"Yes!"
"And what are you drawing Miss Janie?"
"Us drawing."
"Why don't you add me in there. I just came over and added to the fun."
"I don't think so."
"Do you think I added to the fun, Zoey?"
"Yeah. Not a lot of people actually like playing with me."
"Well, I'm here now and we can play."
"I'm drawing though."
Logan and Janie laughed at Zoey's bluntness.
"Come on add me to the drawing!" Logan pointed to an empty spot on the piece of paper.
Janie started added Logan's head and body to the paper.
Zoey laughed when she saw Janie's drawing. "She made you an ugly monster!"
"I'm not an ugly monster." Logan angrily protested.
"He is, isn't he?" Janie asked Zoey.
"Yes. Now he sounds like this tiger when it's mad."
"Yup, he's an ugly angry tiger man."
Zoey laughed. "Yeah!"

Zoey

Wednesday came and Janie was ready to leave work when Mark told her to stay back. You need to add a few more entries to this database.
"You done yet?"
"Yeah, but give me a few minutes."
Janie got back to work quickly and added the 20 extra entries. And fixed some code.
"Are you done yet? We're late."
"Could I just wear what I'm wearing now? I actually have gym clothes to change into if that's better."
"Okay, change into the gym clothes. It's better to play in that."
Janie went to her car and grabbed the clothes and went to the neared bathroom and changed. She came out of the bathroom and Hunter was standing outside with his arms crossed. "Let's go."
Janie got in the car. "You're wearing that?" Logan asked.
"Yeah, I could run around with the kids better in this."
Logan got back on his phone.
They arrived at the orphanage and all the kids immediately ran to Logan. He seemed to already be loved by the kids. Janie saw this side of him and was surprised. He was laughing with the kids and having fun. Janie saw a girl sitting in the corner and drew pictures. Janie came over to her. "Hi, what's your name?"
"Zoey."
"My name's Janie. What are you drawing there?"
"A tiger."
"Oh wow. I can see now. That's really good! Could I draw with you?"
"Yeah."
"How old are you, Zoey?"
"6."
"You're a big girl."
"The others say I'm not a big girl."
"Yeah, you are. You can definitely draw like a big girl. Even if you aren't big, it's cute to be small too."
"Yeah, but I like to be a big girl. No one wants me in their family."
"Maybe they haven't seen your drawings so they can't decide yet."
"Do you like to draw, Miss?"
"Yeah, a lot. I try to draw whenever I can. If I don't I'll forget."
"You can't forget how to draw."
"But my drawings won't be as good."
"That's why I draw everyday."
"That's a good habit."
"You should too."
"I do. When I get bored at work I doodle something small on my papers. Or when I'm in those boring meetings I start drawing on my notepad."
Zoey giggled. "You get bored at work?"
"Sometimes when they talk too much about nothing."
Zoey giggled again. "Do you like your boss?"
"Very much. He's a nice guy but sometimes he talks too much."
"Sometimes I get bored here."
"Aw, do you go outside and play?"
"When it's time to play."
"How about you try to draw things outside?"
"The ladies don't let me. They say I have designated times to draw and play time outside not one of them."
"You now what the word designated means?"
"Yeah. It's the schedule we have."
"Ah, I see. The set times to when you do things, right?"
"Yeah."
Logan noticed Janie was around and looked around for her but gave up. Hunter continued playing with the kids and Logan went to take a rest at the tables. He was texting Jessica and they were in an argument. He put his phone down and that's when he saw Janie sitting with Zoey. "What are you two drawing over there?"

Hunter's Story

The next day, Hunter asked Janie if she wanted to go get some coffee with him. They went to some cafe and got coffee.
"You feeling okay after last night?"
"Yeah. Still a little groggy and my feet are still achy from the shoes but all in all good feelings."
"Good. I heard Logan bid $100,000 on you."
"Yeah, why would he do that."
"It's still for charity so he just showing off."
"True."
"But he's still bidding that much since you're his girlfriend. You are worth much more than $100,000."
"You're digging your own grave."
Hunter chuckled. "I'm actually here to tell you your next assignment."
"Wow. And I thought you actually cared about me."
"I do, but this is just a good chance to tell you this Wednesday you're going to an orphanage and playing with the kids."
"Oh, won't be bad at all."
"Yeah, it's actually where I can from."
"Really?"
"Yeah. Dad, or the chairman met me there and helped me."
"Must've been a good day."
"Yeah, it was a good day. I was on the verge of being kicked out of the orphanage because I was a bad kid. I was going to be kicked out anyway because I was turning 18 and had to support myself. My parents left me when I was younger so I lived on the streets and I got into a lot of fights in he homeless shelter. The people from the orphanage saw me in the homeless shelter and took me in. I kept trying to run away because I didn't want to be known as an orphan. But Dad saw me and helped me. He was mean but that made me the person who I am today. He made work hard with school and got me into college. I learned law but switched to business. And today I am also the head of security because I'm pretty good at fighting from all the fights with the kids at the homeless shelter. They always made fun of me for not having family and so now here I am."
"Wow, what a story."
"Yup."

The Aftermath of the Event

"Is that why I was pushed to sit in the front so he could make out with his girlfriend in the back?" Janie thought. She didn't know why but it really hurt her feelings. What he said inside and now he's bringing a girl along. Jessica came out in a revealing dress. She looked like a model. Tall and pretty. Hunter drove off and dropped Janie home. "I'm sorry." Hunter looked at her with sad eyes.
"No problem." Janie shined a fake smile back to him. She slowly walked up the stairs to her building.
"You look beautiful, darling!" Barbara beamed. "I don't feel it."
"Aw. What'd you do today to look so gorgeous. All the boys would be drooling all over. How could you not feel beautiful?"
"Actually yes. I feel wonderful. There's not a lot of time where I can dress up and look this nice. I didn't even go to prom. This is my first time truly getting all dolled up."
"That's the spirit."
"I was at a charity event and I felt out of place, but I met this boy."
"Oh, a boy."
"Yeah. He was smart and funny. Seems like someone sweet."
"That's a perfect package!"
"Yeah." Janie smiled and threw her heels off. She was able to limp a little to the elevators. Once she was in her home she got a nice ice bath for her feet. She then texted a picture of herself to Suri.
"You look gorgeous! Where'd you go?"
"To some event."
"For work?"
"Kinda."
"Finally you are able to get all dolled up. You meet any cute guys?"
"Yes. This nerdy looking one. He's perfect!"
Janie told Suri all about Brian, but not who he really was because Brian was a millionaire.

Flirty Friends

"You look like you're having a ball with Brian."
"Where were you for those few hours?"
"None of your business."
Brian came to Janie with the drinks. "I could sit here, right?" he asked Janie.
"Yeah. I think so."
"Cool. You said you worked for Logan, right?"
"Yeah."
"Did you meet at work or something?"
"Something like that."
Brian nodded. "Logan, I told her if you guys don't work out I could have her. Is that okay with you?"
"No. And that's if she even wants to be with you."
"Well, so far I have high hopes."
"Don't be discouraged when those hopes are broken."
"Don't worry."
"Competitive friendship." Janie thought.
"By the way you look beautiful tonight, Janie. I can't even imagine how you look in everyday clothing."
"She looks worse." Logan laughed.
"No. I imagine her wearing something simple but looking really good."
Logan laughed some more. "If you're into that plain and average look."
"Well, you bid $100,000 for me so you must be into that plain and average look."
"Yeah, you're dating her but why are you so mean?"
"I'm just joking."
"Are you drunk?"
"What? No, Brian."
"It sure seems like you're out of it. I might have to take Janie home for you."
"Fuck no. She's with me. Actually let's go home now."
Logan pulled Janie's wrist. Janie quickly said her goodbyes to Brian and was trailing behind Logan.
"He may be my friend but you can't flirt with him." Logan pulled out his phone and called someone. "I'm going home now. I'll wait for you outside."
Janie and Logan got in the car. Hunter was inside. "Don't go yet, Jessica is coming with us."

Brian

Janie got back to her seat. "Why would you do that." She whispered to Logan. "Why would I let them have my girlfriend?"
The curly haired guy came over. "Congratulations, Logan." He punched Logan on the shoulder. "Hi, my name is Brian." He put his hand out to Janie for a handshake. Janie shook his hand and he pulled her up. "Could I have the first dance with you, actually? Since I didn't get to go on a date with you." Janie smiled. "I don't know." She looked down to Logan. Brian pulled her away. "He won't mind."

"I'm not a great dancer just so you know."
"Don't worry. I'll lead you." Brian placed his hand softly on the small of Janie's back.
The swayed and swirled on the dance floor. "You are pretty good it seems. Though I don't have anything to compare you two."
"Well, you should compare the next guy to me."
"I will."
"You really going out with Logan?"
"Well, what about you?"
"Me going out with Logan? No."
Janie laughed. "You guys seem close."
"He's one of my good friends."
"I see."
"How long have you guys been together?"
"Not long."
"Alright. I still have a chance."
"What do you mean?"
"I'm looking for a girlfriend and if you don't like Logan. I'm free."
Janie smiled. "Well, I will save you to my date later list."
"Thanks."
"Don't worry you're the only one on that list."
"Phew. No competition."
They joked and laughed for 3 more songs. Janie wanted a drink so Brian went to get it. She went back to her table which was empty now except for Logan.

Bidding

All the girls glared at Janie. They were pageant level and bombshells. Janie was no competition. She also saw Lindsay in the crowd. All the girls tried to be in front and there was a long auction. The girl's dates would have to try to win their girl back because other men were bidding on them too.
"Are all these rich people just dating the same group of girls over and over. Blue eyes blonde hair." Janie thought.
Janie tried to stay in the back as long as possible and possibly go unnoticed. But the group started to get smaller and smaller.
"And you are?" The host asked Janie. "Janie."
"What is she doing up there?" Logan asked. He was backstage feeling up some girl.
He went back to his table and saw that Janie was in fact standing on stage.
"Seems like a nice girl. Anyone? $25?" The host asked. All the girls were giggling. Just then, "$100."
"$100! Anyone more than that?"
"$150."
"$200? Anyone?" The host asked.
"$1000." Max yelled.
"Why would he bid on me?" Janie thought. "This is so embarrassing." Janie was on the verge of crying because the bids were higher for the other girls but Janie was as low as $1000. She tried not to let her pride hurt her so much.
"This is a charity event you know." The host chuckled.
"$2000!" Some guy with glasses and curly brown hair yelled. Janie made eye contact with him and he smiled.
"$2500." Max retaliated.
"$3000."The curly haired guy responded.
"$5000."
"$6000." By now it was just the two of them arguing with each other.
"$7000."
"$8000." There was silence after the curly haired guy said that.
"$10,000." Max offered.
"$15,000."
There was another pause. "$30,000." Max screamed.
All the girls were gasping. "She went as high as 30,000? The highest price was $50,000. If she could beat that, that would be so disappointing."
"Wow, $30,000!" The host yelled. "Anyone will to get higher than that? This is for charity and it's a good cause."
"$50,000." The curly haired guy said nonchalantly.
Everyone gasped. "Wow, $50,000! How about $55,000?"
"$100,000." Logan said.
Janie looked at Logan. She shook her head.
Logan looked at Max and the curly haired guy and smirked.
"$100,000 going once going twice. Sold to the gentleman in the blue suit."
Everyone applauded and Janie ran off the stage.

The First Event

Janie went back to Logan's house the next day to sign the papers and get ready for the event. There was a stylist in Logan's house ready for their dispense. She did Janie's makeup and hair. Another stylist fitted Janie into a long flowy lavender dress. Her hair was an intricate updo and the makeup was similar to her everyday look but more enhanced. Hunter knocked and came in. "How are you ladies doing?" The two stylists looked at Hunter. "She looks beautiful."
"Well, thanks for working your magic, Jackie and Evan."
Janie turned around. Hunter was in awe. He looked at her from top to bottom. "You look amazing. More than beautiful. You'll definitely top those other girls there."
"Duh! She got treatment from us." Evan added.
Logan is waiting in the car. You can come down now. Hunter put his hand out to Janie and walked her down the stairs.
"I may have made the biggest mistake of my life."
"It hasn't started yet." Hunter smiled.
Janie had to take careful steps as to not trip on her dress with her high heels. Hunter opened the door and Logan was texting someone on his phone. Janie elegantly slipped into the car and Hunter took off. They arrived at the venue. There were cameras flashing as if these business people were celebrities. The car door opened and Logan finally looked up from his phone. "Okay, it's our time to shine." He came out and waited for Janie. He held her hand and the two of them walked down the aisle to the backdrop to have their pictures taken. They stood there for a few minutes and walked inside. "My mouth hurts from smiling so much."
"Must be your first time smiling that's why."
"He still has to be a dick." Janie frowned.

Logan went on stage to talk and came back down. The last half of the event he was gone. It was time for the date auctioning. All the girls went to front. Only Janie stayed in her seat. Some guy pulled Janie to the stage too. There were 30 girls total. All in their twenties. Janie was about to escape but the staff herded all the girls on stage.

High School Drama

"Let me explain. He needs a stable girlfriend or relationship and you are the best candidate. You don't have any bad records. You're a good girl. You're perfect. Even in my eyes you're perfect. I didn't want Logan to have you, but it's just how things played out. He needs this too."
"Why are you even helping him?"
"I owe him."
"Owe him what?"
"It's a long story. Please Janie, just help me with this."
"I just don't understand how you can't just get someone else. Like I said go to the bookstore there's bound to be a good girl there. She reads books for god's sake!"
"Janie, I would have to do a full on background check on her and I don't want to have to do that when I already have your records."
"You checked my records?"
"Yeah." Hunter hesitated.
"This is just so messed up. Do you do this to everyone you talk to?"
"No. It's just..."
Janie walked away. That night she sat on her couch thinking about what had happened. "How could they just treat everyone like a contract or background checks could solve everything. Do these rich people have trust issues?"
There was a knock on her door. She looked through the peephole. "Go home." She texted Hunter.
There was three more knocks and then silence. The door opened. Hunter walked in. "What the fuck are you doing?" Hunter covered Janie's mouth with his hand. "Janie. Listen. I don't have trust issues or anything. It's just a routine thing that I do and so it was out of habit. I didn't mean to check your records. But you have nothing to hide you're normal."
"Gee, thanks."
"Janie, I know we just met and haven't known each other much. But you have to understand my situation. I am still working for Logan. I need to get this done. If his outlook isn't good. Mine won't either. The company will go down. You will lose your job."
"Why can't he just go alone?"
"The look for him this time is responsible adult who is in a serious relationship. In the past, he went with a different girl each time. We don't want that douchebag look for him. The big shareholders aren't thrilled about that and don't trust him taking care of the company. Do you see where all this stemmed from?"
Janie sighed. "This is more drama than any high school girl."
"Exactly. High schoolers have so much 'drama' going on, but Logan beats them. So could you go with him?"
"I don't even know why I'm doing this. I don't want the money or anything. I dislike Logan with a passion. The only thing that's persuading me to do this is you."
Hunter held Janie's hand. "Thanks."
"You owe me so much, buddy."
"I know."

Three Months

"Why don't you tell them to move instead of standing there awkwardly."
"I tried." she mumbled.
"Move." Logan demanded. The couple moved over.
"Having a pool party, eh?"
"Yeah. Have a seat."
"Why am I here?"
"You'll see. Here is what you'll need to sign."
"Sign?"
"Yeah. Three month commitment. You'll get the full $100,000 by the end of the month. You just have to accompany me when I have outings."
"Three months? I thought it was just for this weekend."
"No, Hunter didn't tell you? It's for at least 3 months. If everything goes well then we will extend the time and money."
"No. Hunter didn't tell me. And I ain't signing this shit."
"Well, that's your loss. You come with me to those big parties with rich people and get to be dolled up. All attention is on you. I guess you've never had any attention on you."
"No. This is not what I agreed to do." Janie left the room and pushed through the couple making out. She stomped down the stairs and left. Hunter was outside washing the cars.
"Why didn't you tell me there was more to the agreement."
"I didn't want to scare you away. We need you to do this." Janie started walking away. Hunter dropped the hose. And grabbed her.

The Big Guns

"Janie, you make me look bad if you say no. You make me look like a bad father. I'm trying but that boy is so spoiled and I need someone like you to keep him in line. Please."
"I'll think about it."
"No. You are going."
"But."
"No buts. Get back to work." he patted Janie on the head. Janie pouted. She turned around and sat down.
"I thought you came to really visit me."
"I did and to ask you to do a favor for me. We could have lunch sometime. My wife also makes a mean dinner if you'd care to join."
"I don't think I'll be able to."
"Another night, kid."
Janie went back to work and left the office. She grabbed her bag and went down to the lobby. It was dark in the office but the lobby was bright so she had to adjust to the lighting.
"Janie." Janie looked up from looking inside her bag to get her keys. "Thanks."
"You brought out the big guns, Hunter. How am I supposed to say no?"
"I know. I'll treat you to a coffee."
"You owe me more than that."
"Don't worry."
***
Janie had to come meet Logan at his house. She noticed the address was for the house next to Hunter's. She knocked on the door. Logan came to the door with sunglasses and swimming trunks. "You're here. Wait for me in the office. Go up the stairs. Make a left and that's my office." He ran to his backyard. It seemed like there was a party.

Janie went up the stairs. There were people making out in front of the office. She asked them to move but they wouldn't. So she stood there waiting for Logan.

Mentor

"You're gonna have to go."
"No."
"Why not?"
"I don't like him."
"But so far we don't know anyone or trust anyone."
"Hunter, you're like a superman you could find someone in a bookstore or something."
Hunter didn't reply. At the end of the day the chairman came in. Janie was the only one left in the office.
"Janie!"
Janie jumped. She turned around to see Mr. Anderson.
"Bob!"
They both hugged. "How are you, kiddo?"
"Good. Are you well?"
"Of course I am. I personally came here to visit you. Why are you here all alone?"
"Working overtime."
"Don't work too hard."
"If I don't work hard, how will Anderson Inc. thrive?"
"You think you're holding this company up or something."
They both laughed. He patted Janie's head. "What is my mentee doing lately?"
"Not much."
"Could you do me a favor?"
"Yes, anything for my mentor."
"Could you go to the charity event this weekend with my son?"
"Son?"
"Yeah, Logan."
"Oh, I forgot about that. I'm sorry I can't accept your son."
"Oh, come on. He's not that bad. He isn't perfect but you're perfect for him."

Broken

Morgan walked away. Janie followed her. They went to the stairs. "Morgan."
"What?" she spat.
"It's a date with Logan. Could you go with him?"
"Are you kidding me right now? Why would he go with me?"
"Because you're kind and nice."
"This weekend?" Morgan started to lighten up.
"How did this situation even come about?"
"Don't ask. Could you go?"
"Yes! A million times yes! He really wants to go with me?"
"Not specifically you but yes."
"Oh my god! This can't really be happening!"
"Calm down." Morgan ran all the way down to the lobby. Janie walked back up and texted Hunter that Morgan was an option. Hunter was on it and went to talk to her. Everything was playing out well.
***
"Janie." Hunter texted.
"What's up?"
"Morgan can't go. She just tripped and fell when she came to meet Logan."
"She just fell. How could she not go?"
"Twisted ankle."
"Can't she just go in crutches or a wheelchair? It'll make Logan look like an even better person."
"No. It'll look like a charity case or something."
"How. I don't understand. She's been wanting to be with Logan for so long."
"This is a long time commitment. She can't be shown to the public with a crutches or a wheelchair."
"Why can't Logan go with a disabled person?"
"It's just not possible. There's more to it. Do you have any other friends?"
"I mean just look up the employee list for this company because everyone in my list is booked."

Begging Morgan

"Janie. I need your help on something."
"Yeah?"
"You have any friends like you?"
"Uh. Hahaha. Yeah."
"Great. Could you recommend them to me?"
"Why you desperate for a girlfriend?"
"No. I need it them for something."
"May I ask for what?"
"Logan."
"Logan?"
"He's going to some event this weekend and we need to find a nice girl for him to be with. He's known for being a player and going with bad girls and that's not good for his image. He's a responsible CEO now and I need to find him someone who is nice and kind like you."
"Well, I could try to ask some girl friends of mine."
"Great! There will be some compensation." Logan texted.
Janie texted some of her friends but none of them were free that weekend or they all had a boyfriend. But she didn't have to search far and wide because Morgan was right in front of her.
"Morgan, are you free this weekend?"
"You still haven't told me why you broke up with Julien."
"It's a long story."
"I have time to listen."
"It's complicated. Just put the blame on me. I caused him to be out of his mind and element so I couldn't handle him."
"Handle him? He's the most simple guy I've ever met. He's so nice and calm."
"It's my fault okay? Now could you do something for me?"
"No!"
"Morgan, I know you will like this. Please?"

The End of Julien

Janie woke up to a knocking on her door. She looked through the peephole. It was Hunter.
"Here's your keys."
"You okay?"
"Yeah. I was just sleeping."
"Oh, sorry. Go back to sleep. Night."
"I just noticed. You aren't wearing your sunglasses."
Hunter laughed and closed the door. "Night, Janie."

Janie dropped her keys on the dinner table and went back to bed.
***
Janie went to work running. She was almost late. She looked at her watch. Just then Julien is by her side power walking with her. "Janie."
"Julien? We need to talk today." They both entered the elevator. The doors were about to close when a hand slipped through and stopped the doors from closing. It was Hunter. "Morning."
"Morning." Janie said with a smile. And in came Logan. He didn't make any eye contact with Janie. He did notice Julien standing beside her.

The elevator stopped on Julien's floor. "Let's meet during lunch." Janie didn't reply, she only looked down at her shoes. Hunter jokingly elbowed her. She gave him a half smile. It was Logan's floor. He stepped out of the elevator quickly and Hunter followed. Janie stayed in the elevator alone and looked up at the numbers to wait for her stop. The doors opened and she solemnly walked to her desk.
"I got you some tea." Eddie said with a wide smile.
"Thanks. I really needed it."
Jane plopped onto her chair. She started typing away. Morgan glanced at Janie from far away. She wanted to ask Janie, but didn't want to give her a hard time. During lunch time Janie walked down to the cafeteria to see Julien. He was already waiting for her at a table.
"Janie, I'm sorry about the other night. If I said something offensive please forgive me. It's just been so stressful for me lately. So many things are on my mind and I can't focus on one thing."
"I think we should end this. Let's just be friends. You were better when you didn't have me to worry about. You just focus on work."
"No. I could do it. It's just sometimes you occupy my whole day. Meaning you're in my thoughts and I can't work properly. But I am trying."
"Julien, I'm serious. We could try it again when you really ready. But I don't think it would work. Could I be straight with you?"
"Yeah."
"You need to things to be orderly and under your control and this relationship seems to be going slower than you want it to be so you're stressing out. I'm a girl who likes to take things slow. Girls before me probably thought you were a workholic because work was first and then it was love. And things were probably under your control so you didn't stress out much."
"You could be right but I really want this to work. I haven't had a girlfriend for almost 3 years now and I want to make this happen."
"We haven't gotten far into our relationship so you won't be losing much, Julien. It's better if I back out of this now than later."

The Security Grandma

"How long have you met this guy?"
"Two weeks or so."
"And he's acting like that."
"Well, I was going to tell him that it's over but haven't gotten the chance yet. Why am I even discussing this with you."
"I'm gonna drop you off at your house. I'll return this car to you once I get home."
"How? I'll just drive home after you get home."
"It's late, you've had a long day. Just rest."
Janie showed Logan the way to her apartment. He left and Janie walked up the stairs. Her apartment building was the main one with the lobby. The security woman, Barbara noticed that Janie didn't look her best. "What's wrong, honey?"
"I don't know how to deal with some people, Barbara."
"Aw, my sweet baby. Come here."
Janie came over and Barbara held her. It was just Janie and her in the lobby. Janie pulled away. "I'm gonna go up and freshen up."
"If you need any help you can call me."
"Alright, thanks Barbara."
Barbara was like a grandma to Janie. She was sweet and caring. She always had Janie's back. Janie would buy toys for her grandchildren during Christmas. Although Barbara was old she was still strong and quick on her feet. Janie really need someone caring to help her since her mom was in Virginia.

Let's Go

Janie ran out of the room to find a bucket just in case Julien doesn't make it to the toilet. Logan sat on Julien's bed. "How pitiful for that girl." Logan said. Julien became conscious and thought Logan was Janie.
"Janie?"
"What?"
"I love you. Why'd you have to make me wait like that? I love you. I honestly did want to just fuck you that night and leave it at that. But now I realize I like you. I didn't want you to see me in that state. I'm sorry for forcing you to do that with me the other day. I was just out of my mind and had to let it out on someone and with you I wanted to fuck you. I love the feel of your ass and how they fill my whole palm. And how your boobs press on me when we're close. If only you just lifted up your leg when I pulled up your skirt. I can't even imagine how your pussy would feel and taste. Haha. Why am I even saying this?"

Logan punched Julien unconscious again. He left the room. "Janie, come on. Let's go."
"What? I can't find a bucket yet."
"Who cares. Let's go."
"Could you mind your own business? If you want to leave that bad then go. I didn't even ask you to come."
Logan was mad, he walked to the door. "Are you coming or not?"
"I'm not coming. I have to stay and take care of him."
"He doesn't even love you like that."
"What do you even mean? It doesn't matter this is my business."
"You better leave or else you'll get more hurt."
"I could take care of myself."
Logan came back and grabbed Janie's arm. "You're coming with me."
"Let go of me!"
"Did you hear what he said in there?"
"What?"
"He said he wanted to fuck you and told me what he wants to do with you. He thinks you were me. If you stay any longer he's gonna hurt you."
"He already told me."
"And you're gonna let him do that? Force you? That's rape."
"I'm not gonna let him do that."
"Well, he's much stronger and he can do anything. Let's go." Logan tugged on Janie's arm. She didn't budge. He pulled her harder and they were out the door.

Jostling Julien

"Boyfriend problems?" Logan asked. He came out from behind the wall.
"Were you standing there listening the whole time?"
"Well, I didn't want to interrupt you so I stayed quiet. I was in here doing something before you rudely interrupted me."
"Well, I'm sorry. But next time just show yourself before I start calling people." Janie left and went to find Hunter.
"I gotta go, Hunter. It was a great dinner."
"I'm coming with her." Logan said.
"What? No." Janie said.
Janie quickly made her way to the door. Logan was close behind.
"Please mind your own business."
"It seems you need help. He's drunk and you can't take care of him in that state."
"I can do it myself."
Logan didn't care and hopped in the passenger's seat.
"Get out."
"Why?"
"Why do you think?"
"I'm trying to be nice and help here. Now go before he starts trouble."
Janie just started driving and planned to deal with Logan later.
"You should go that way. It's faster."
"Shut the fuck up."
"Again, I'm trying to help."
Janie listened to his tip and took his way.
"Now turn left."
They got to the bar and saw Julien sitting outside.
"Ha! Is that him? They already kicked him out."
Janie ran into the bar to check if he paid for the bill. She had to pay for it and then she went back out to see Logan had already put Julien into the car. He stood there with his hands on his hips and tapped his feet. Logan could be helpful sometimes, yet make you feel bad for him having to help. "Keys." He put his hand out to get Janie's keys.
"You don't know where he lives."
"I drive faster. And this man is about to hurl in your car if you drive. You sit in the back and take care of him."
Janie sat in the back and Logan drove. She told him where to go and he immediately drove. Julien leaned on Janie's shoulder and slept there. He reeked of an alcohol smell.
"Did you have to pay for the bill?"
"Yeah."
"How much?"
"$50."
"Not too bad but he's definitely knocked out."
They got to Julien apartment and took his wallet and grabbed the card that would unlock his door.
"Nice apartment. High tech with these cards." Logan commented.
Logan and Janie helped Julien to his bed. He laid there motionless. Janie took off his shoes and went to his bathroom to grab a Tylenol. She left it on the side of his bed and went into the kitchen to get a glass of water. Janie went back in the room to take off Julien's belt and tie; thinking it would help him sleep more comfortably. While Logan was looking around Julien's apartment.

Sweetheart

"Huh? No one."
"You sure you don't have to pick it up?"
"Yeah. Sure."
***
Dinner was over so Janie cleaned the tables and helped Hunter put the plates in the dishwasher. "You need to call back whoever that was?"
"Oh yeah!"
Janie took her phone out of her pocket and went into a random room.
Julien called several more times. He was drunk. His texts were nonsense. She called him.
"Hello?"
"Janie?"
"Yeah. Where are you?"
"You still care about where I am?"
"Sure, you're my friend."
"Friend? Are you crazy? I love you. We're in a relationship together. Aren't we? I miss you. Where are you?"
"I'm at a friend's house."
"Janie, don't you love me?"
"Where are you? So I can come pick you up."
"Do you love me?"
"Julien, I'll answer that question after you tell me where you're at."
"No, tell me you love me first."
"Okay, I love you. Now where are you, sweetheart?"
Julien chuckled. "You called me sweetheart? I like that. I'm at that bar when you came with Morgan. You looked so angelic and sweet. I wanted to fuck you so hard. So hard. Did you know that? But you had to play me and make me wait. I can't wait anymore."
Janie was sick when she heard that. She didn't want to pick him up anymore. "You're sure you're at the Maison Premiere, right?"
"Yeah, where are you?"
"Okay, stay where you are. I'm coming. How did you get so drunk?"

Max

"My name is Max. This is my girlfriend Lindsay."
"Hi, nice to meet you both."
Lindsay didn't even bother to look at Janie. "What are we eating today, LogiePie?" Lindsay asked as she jumped into Logan's arms. Janie knew what type of person she was. She led Logan into the living room and they talked there.
"Has these dickheads told you who I am?"
"No."
"Well, I am their cool younger cousin who's about to take charge of my dad's company. I'm 22 and not single but still ready to mingle."
"You're only 22 and you're that confident?"
"Yeah, why not? How old are you?"
"23."
"23 and no confidence but instead a Plain Jane?"
"You're 22 and have a dick on your head."
"No. I'm 22 and will eventually have a dick in you."
"Hey! Hey!" Hunter yelled. "You need to keep those comments to yourself."
"Who says you can get it in far."
"Oh. Small dick joke! Good one. I wouldn't want it in you anyway."
"Yeah, because you like to put it in trash." Janie mumbled.
Max left the kitchen. "Lindsay! Babe!"
"Sorry about that." Hunter apologized.
"No, I started it."
"I try to have him come over as much as possible so I can teach him a lesson. The young ones these days are like that."
"My cousins at home are like that too. I try to keep them in line, but they never listen."
***
Janie helped Hunter set the table. They all gathered and sat down. Logan sat directly in front of Janie. Hunter was at the end of the table. Lindsay and Max were at the end of the table facing each other. They started dinner but Janie's phone kept vibrating in her pocket. She took her phone out under the table to see that Julien called her and texted her a few times. She ignored it and turned off the phone and put it on her lap.
"Who's calling you, Janie?" Logan asked.

Cutting Cucumbers

"I need some help in the kitchen. The helper isn't helpful at all."
"Alright." Janie rolled up her sleeves and tied her hair into a ponytail.
The two of them stepped into the kitchen. "Hey, how big am I supposed to cut this?" The person who asked turned around it was Logan.
"Oh, Janie. Surprised to see you here."
"Hmm." Janie replied.
"Janie, could you take over his job? I'm making ... so you know the deal."
Hunter went straight to work and started taking things out of the oven.
"What could I do now?" Logan asked.
"Watch Janie do it and learn."
"How about I go watch TV."
"You stay in here. You tell me Janie said your food tastes bad and want to learn but you don't even try."
"It's embarrassing to have her do it."
"You can't be almighty and cool for everything."
Logan sighed and came over to the counter. Janie was slicing the cucumbers thinly. "That thin?"
"Yeah, it's for a salad isn't it? It's the right size to put on your eyes for a face mask." Janie flapped the cucumber in front of Logan's face. Logan pretended to bite it. Just then the buzzer buzzed. Logan ran out to get the door.
"Who's this lady?" An unknown voice called out.
"That's Plain Jane." Logan answered.
"Ah. I see."
"The name is Janie."

Hole Foods

That weekend Janie went to do some errands. She stopped by the Whole Foods to get food. She saw Hunter walking around with a basket. "Hey!" Hunter looked down to see Janie. "Hi, Janie. We've been seeing each other a lot lately."
"Yeah."
"You go here often?"
"No, I just go when I feel like it. You stalking up the fridge? That's a lot."
"Yeah, I'm a health nut so I gotta buy a lot of fresh food."
"Well, this is the place to be healthier."
"Yeah and lose a lot of money."
"Haha. Well it's either the hospital bill or this."
"Good way of putting it."
They both chatted about their favorite snacks and left together.
"Hey, you wanna come to my place. I'm making dinner tonight to eat with some people. It would be nice to have you come over."
"Really? Are you sure I'm not intruding."
"No, not at all. These people are close with me. They're sick of seeing the same people all the time. You coming would be refreshing."
"Okay."
They exchanged numbers and Janie was going to come over after Hunter sent his address.
***
Janie drove there and finally found two big houses that shared the same gate. It was a wealthy neighborhood for sure in the city of New York. She pressed the buzzer and the gates opened right away. Janie parked her car and noticed there were no cars parked outside. She walked up to the door and knocked. But before she knocked Hunter opened the door. "Come in!"

Hunter

"What? I thought he was the security guard."
"He's everything. Lawyer, head of security guards, executive assistant, and also does personal things for the CEO."
"There are people like that out there?"
"Adopted brother. The chairman adopted him and now he's a close brother to Logan."
"Oh. I see. Wow. He has a lot of responsibilities."
"Exactly. A man with power."
"Wait, you said lawyer. How is that possible?"
"He learned law in school. He didn't finish all the way but he helped the real lawyer win a case for the company one time."
"Ah, I see. Damn."
"People think he's gay though so it's off limits, Janie."
"What? Who said I was eyeing him?"
"I don't know. He's good looking. Smart. Has money. Everything a girl loves."
"Definitely better than you."
"What? You kidding? I'm better looking. I'm smart too. I have money. And I'm a sweetheart."
"Bleh. Stop lying to yourself. He's much more built. Taller. And much better looking."
"I can grow a beard and look macho like him."
"Keep thinking that."
"What. I'm half asian, the other half can grow a beard."
"The white half would be able to grow half a beard. The asian half cannot grow any facial hair."
"You saw my mustache during Movember."
"It was a very sad mustache."
"Shut up, Miss Noodle Arms."

Executive Assistant

"Gym?" Mark asked. He carried his gym duffle bag on his back.
"Yup. Let me finish this up real quick. It'll be a second."
Mark sat in Eddie's desk. He was fidgeting with Eddie's toy figurines. "How is this Eddie guy?"
"He's a good desk mate. He doesn't bother me much. I can ask him for help and he does it right away."
"That's good to hear."
"Yeah."
"I think he likes you."
"What? How could you make that assumption?"
"He's quiet and tries not to annoy you. He helps you right away. He's shy but to you he talks."
"Well, he has no choice but to talk to me. I make him come over, otherwise I take his toys away."
"You must be the worst desk mate ever."
"Shut up. I buy him coffee in the morning sometimes."
"Really?"
"Yeah."
"Where's mine?"
"Why would I want to kiss my boss's ass?"
"How about as a friend?"
"Maybe after the gym."
"You need to buy membership to get in by the way."
"Alright."
***
"Let's do a light jog and work our arms tonight." Mark instructed Janie.
"This is a light jog?"
"Yeah."
Janie panted. She was already perspiring a little.
"You gotta push yourself, Janie."
"We've only done 5 reps with that 10 pound weight and you're tired?"
"I need to start small, like with this 2 pound dumbbell."
Mark looked at Janie with disappointment. "No. 5 pounds."
Janie grabbed the 5 pound weight. "Hey, you're that girl." Janie looked up to see Hunter.
"Hi!"
Hunter smiled. "You go to this gym too?"
"First time. I'm with a friend actually."
"Oh. I'm here everyday. Who did you come with?"
Janie pointed to Mark. "Mark."
Mark was concentrating on working out. "Mark!" Mark looked up.
"What? Did you do it with the 5 pound weights yet?"
"No. This is my friend."
"Oh, what's up. Hunter, right?"
"Yeah." They had a small conversation about work and how they haven't seen each other at the gym.
Hunter went along to do his thing. "That's the executive assistant to the CEO."

Fail Financial Floor

"I noticed you always changed your heels for flats and would use the stairs. Trying to exercise more or something? Actually you've been leaving your desk more frequently."
"Trying to get my workout grind on."
"It's not you. You don't ever exercise."
"Well, I'm trying. Those donuts are coming back."
"I always told you. Wanna come to the gym with me sometime?" Mark asked.
"Nah."
"Come on. It'll be fun. I'll help you."
"I'll think about it."
"I'm going after work tomorrow. Bring your workout clothes."
Janie nodded and Mark patted her head. He went back into his office.
***
Julien stopped talking to Janie after the incident yesterday. Janie didn't want to bother him so she left it at that.
"Janie! Take this to the financial floor!" Morgan raised another flash drive.
"Why don't you just email them?"
Morgan was quiet for a moment but then she walked over to Janie's desk. "Are you guys okay?"
"What do you mean?"
"Why are you telling me to email it to him?"
"I'm swamped with work today."
Morgan knew something was wrong but just nodded her head and walked back to her desk to email Julien.
"It's weird that you're turning that opportunity down."
"Don't even start."
"Okay." Eddie quietly answered.

Under Pressure

Julien and Janie texted that whole week. "Janie, take this to the financial floor." Morgan would say. Janie was happy to take it to the financial floor. Janie would slip into her flats and use the stairs instead of the elevator. Julien would be waiting half way and they would talk and kiss. But today he wasn't there. She kept going until she reached the fourth floor. She opened the door and came in. The receptionist with her routine, "How may I help you?" Janie would wave the flash drive, "Julien." And the receptionist would nod. Janie saw Julien in the corner with his head down. He was stressed. Janie could see him on the phone yelling to the person on the other line. His fist hit the desk with a loud bang. He hung up and looked up to see Janie. Janie was horrified. He was always gentle and it was difficult to see him in this state. He smiled immediately.
"Thanks." He grabbed the flash drive. "Wait for me by the stairs."
Janie complied and walked away. She waited for him, ten minutes went by. She checked her watch again. She finally hears foot steps. She peeks over and sees that it's Julien running up the stairs. He runs to her and grabs her waist. "I apologize for that back there. I didn't want you to see me in that state. Sometimes people just don't go with my opinion and it gets all stressful."
"No, I get it. Sometimes I have to find the stupid mistake in my code and it's just a tiny mistake but takes me hours."
Julien shut her up with a kiss. "Shh..." He kisses her hard and grabs her bottom. He slowly pulls her skirt up. Her underwear is about to be exposed.
"Stop." Janie said firmly.
"I need a stress reliever and this would be the perfect time."
"It hasn't even been a month, we can't do this now."
"Come on. Every girl follows along."
"I'm not every girl, Julien."
"I understand." he takes his hands away from her.
Julien leaves and Janie is standing there having to straighten out her skirt. She understands that he's under pressure, but she wasn't that easy to let him just use her whenever he needed to. She liked him but she didn't like this side of him. He knew that she wanted to take things slow.

Julien Travels

The two of them walked to the bedroom with drinks in hand. Julien showed Janie all the knick knacks he got from his travels. He shared stories about his trips overseas and Janie listened intently.
"I want to be straight with you. This whole time I wanted to kiss you. I don't want it to be just a one night stand. But so far I don't know anything about you. Could we skip the getting to know you part and just jump into the kiss and more?"
"What do you mean by more?" Jane knew very well what this meant but she played dumb. "I still don't know you that well."
"Well, I've been telling you about my travels and one place I want to travel to is your body. Explore the ridges and peaks on you."
"Could I be straight with you?"
"Yeah."
"That was cheesy. And how many times have you used that on other girls."
"That was the first time. I don't have to use any cheesy lines with other girls. Once we get to my apartment we head straight to the bed."
Janie laughed. "You're very forward. I like that."
Just then Julien held Janie's left cheek. He looked into her eyes. "I can't hold it anymore." he pulled Janie's face to his and they kissed. He bit her lower lip and sucked on it a little. He slowly laid Janie on the bed. His hand slid down her side and then he pulled her shirt up. He pulled her shirt over her head and started to kiss her neck. He went down through her cleavage and kissed every inch. She pulled his face back up to hers and they continued kissing. He slipped his shirt off and Janie grabbed his face. "That's it for tonight." She smiled. He frowned. "He's really excited and now what?" Janie looked down and there was indeed a bulge. "We didn't do anything yet."
"Janie, you have to understand I'm really into you and what we were doing was just kissing but you know I'm getting somewhere with you."
"I'll meet him another time."

Tension

"You're a pretty well off bachelor."
"I guess."
"Your place is really clean and neat."
"I try. I do hire cleaning maids to help tidy the place sometimes."
"Nice. You keeping it clean for a girlfriend or something?" Janie asked this knowing he doesn't have a girlfriend. She wanted to test him.
"No. No girlfriend."
"You with no girlfriend?"
"Yeah. All the girls I date tell me I work too much and don't give them enough attention. Which explains the cleanliness of this place."
"You need to let loose sometimes."
"Yeah, but career is first right now. I want a better future and trying to climb up that ladder you know."
"I see." Janie felt an awkwardness and some tension between the two of them. She's now in his home but they aren't progressing anywhere. But she didn't want it to be just a one night stand.
"I saw in the email that you won the contest to spend a night with Logan."
"Yeah. Unfortunately."
"Why is that?"
"I didn't really enter the contest. Morgan did it for me."
"Explains a lot."
"Yeah."
"You seem to be close to Logan though. I see you talking to him a lot."
"Oh no. Don't misunderstand. We are arguing the whole time."
"Okay." Julien took a sip of his milk.
"You drinking milk. Help you sleep or something?"
"Ha. No. There's not much else in my house to drink. I only have wine and I don't want any more alcohol."
It was getting more awkward and awkward by the minute. Janie knew this would happen. She oozed of awkwardness. She never wanted to initiate anything.
"You wanna check out my room?"
"Uh, sure?"

Julien's Apartment

"It's pretty late now. Wanna come over to my place for a snack and a drink?"
"Well, you did say it's pretty late."
"A midnight snack won't hurt will it?"
"I guess I can't really say no to that."
"Great! Let's take the subway to my place. It's only a few stops away."
The two of them walked to the subway and went down the stairs. Julien's card was empty so Janie had to pay from her card. "Sorry about that."
"It's okay. You paid for my drink."
The two of them hopped onto the train and waited. There wasn't much talking. They sat next to each other and looked out the window into the darkness and after two stops they got off. They walked for a block and reached Julien's apartment. It was in the Upper East Side. "You live here?"
"Yeah."
"Finance in Anderson Inc., got you this apartment?"
"Hard work pays off."
Everything in his apartment was modern and high tech. "You got the new model for this?"
"Yeah. It's much faster."
"You bike?"
"Yeah. What about you? Exercise, meeting ladies on the streets, faster than walking."
"I bike as much as I could."
"We should go biking together. I got this new bike and want to bring it out for ride."
"It's nice."
"And light." Julien lifted it up. "What do you want to drink?"
"Water is good."
"How about sparkling water?"
"Nah. Regular water. Do you have that?" Janie entered the kitchen. Julien grabbed a glass and went to the fridge to get water.
"I actually just ran out of food or anything to snack on that's okay, right?"
"Yeah. I'm cool with anything."
"Cool beans."
He poured a glass of milk for himself. "Let's go out to the living room."
The two of them moved out to the living room.

Drunk Morgan

Janie and Morgan went out to the city and went into a bar. Morgan's new look caught some guy's eyes.
"Wow, Janie your makeover really worked. I see some guys giving me attention."
"Heh, I'm surprised myself. I'm no makeup artist or beautician but I'm glad it has some effect."
"Oh it's Julien!" Morgan ran over to where Julien and his friends were sitting. She pulled Janie along. Julien introduced the two of them to his friends. "This is Morgan and Janie. And this is ..."
"You girls want a drink?"
"Yeah, definitely!" Morgan practically jumped onto him.
"What would you like, Janie?" Julien asked.
"A mojito is good."
"Alright. A mojito and a beer for me. So you work with Morgan. How is that?"
"Good. You'll have to be a listener with her. You're friends with her so it must be the same."
"Yup. She does talk a lot."
"How'd you meet her?"
"Trivia night at some bar and she was loudest and her team won. And my team came over to talk to them. And she was all over me, you know how she is. I didn't want to be anything more with her so we stayed friends."
Janie nodded, her drink finally came out. The two of them talked by themselves the whole night.
"Hey, you two! You've been hooked on each other the whole night." Morgan joked.
"Oh did we? It seemed like you are entertaining my friends over there too." Julien replied.
Morgan winked. "Janie, it's getting late. I need you to help me take me home."
"Okay. Let's go." Morgan was really stumbling to stand on her two feet. Janie had to grab her armpit to help keep her up. "Here let me help you." Julien came over to help on the other side. Julien said bye to his friends and Morgan kept mumbling somethings. Julien had to flag down a taxi and the two of them put Morgan inside. Janie followed behind and Julien grabbed the front passenger door and slipped in too. "Take us to..." Julien told the driver.
"I'm also capable of taking her home too you know."
"I want to take the taxi too you know."
Janie smiled.
"What are you smiling about?" Julien asked as he looked in the side view mirror.
"Nothing."
The taxi stopped in front of Morgan's apartment building. The two of them took Morgan up the stairs. Janie looked through Morgan's bag to find her keys. They unlocked the door and plopped her onto her bed right away.
"Looks like our job here is done." Julien looked at Janie.

Makeover

"Okay. Where do we start? Eyes?"
"You don't have to get rid of these glasses. I like them on you."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah. Those movies where the dorky gets a makeover she has to take off her glasses but if you just spice up your eyes those glasses will make you look like a sexy nerd."
"Yeah." Morgan nodded and smiled.
Janie took off the glasses and added some champagne colored eye shadow all over her eyelid. "Now we add the brown to the outside of your eyelid and blend. Blend a lot but not all over the eyelid just in a small area."
"Okay. Got it." Morgan had one eye closed and the other was open to see what Jane was doing.
"Now just add some eyeliner and mascara. Just a simple makeup. We don't need too much. You could make the eyeliner more dramatic if you want."
Morgan tested out the technique Janie told her to the other eyelid.
"Looks good! You could use this technique for other eye shadow colors."
"It's pretty easy."
"You could even use three colors. Just have three sections. Near the tear duct. Middle and then edge. Just have lighter to darker gradation."
"Got it."
"Now for hair. You have frizzy hair. Just use this oil and conditioner it will help tame it down. You could straighten or curl it to help it but you got to use heat protectant and some styling oil to keep it in place."
Janie straightened Morgan's hair and Morgan played with her hair all night long. The two of them went to Morgan's closet. "You have good pieces to pair with other things. I'll try to style these shirts you already have. Here this blouse is loud with all the patterns a plain cardigan could tone it down and a simple skirt."
Morgan's closet had some outrageous pieces but Janie managed to make everything look good with other pieces in her closet. Janie also told Morgan to go shopping with her another day for more clothes.
"Thank you, Janie! You really helped!"
"You could change your outside appearance but don't change in the inside. Sounds cheesy but I like you the way you are. Embrace the weirdness. I'm weird myself but that makes us different from other girls."
"You're definitely different from other girls. I think Logan is hot when you think he's a jerk."
They both laughed.

What Did You Two Do?

Janie gets to work the next day. Once she steps inside the building all the girls are bombarding her. Everyone is asking how it was and if she did anything more with Logan.
"Calm down ladies. It's just Logan. Nothing special."
"Can't be nothing special. What did you guys do?" Some girl asked.
"Eat, sleep, chill."
"Sleep? Did you guys sleep together?"
"Ha! Never in a million years with that guy? You must be kidding."
"Never in a million years with who?" Logan asked. Everyone jumped by the sound of his voice. All the girls dispersed.
"You."
"Doing what?"
"Nothing."
"What do you mean nothing? We did a lot of things together."
"Yeah, of course we did."
"You mean that night together was nothing?"
All the women didn't leave yet but stood around to listen to Janie and Logan's conversation.
"We slept on the boat and did some things."
"Stop playing around. We didn't do anything."
"You don't have to hide. You were a little crazy." Logan patted Janie's bottom.
"Excuse me. Let's keep our hands to ourselves."
"I wish I could. I even carried you into bed."
Janie rolled her eyes.
"Love when you roll your eyes like that." Logan whispered into Janie's ear and then continued walking to the elevators.
"He's just trying to make everything juicier. We didn't do anything. He was not touched by me so you ladies could have him."
Janie pressed the button to get on the elevator.
***
"So...How was it?" Morgan was curious.
"Nice day off of work."
"Okay. What did you do?"
"We ate his cooking. Sunbathed. Watched the sunset. Went to sleep."
"Sleep? Together? Did you wear the lingerie I got you?"
"No. I didn't wear it."
"What about the bikini?"
"We didn't swim."
"Oh my god Janie, you wasted all my efforts!"
"Don't worry, I brought everything back to you. It's still clean. Your efforts weren't wasted. He carried me to bed."
"Oh my god! Why? Did you feel the power in his arms?"
"I was asleep. I didn't want to sleep in the same bed with him so I slept on the couch and then he carried me to the room. And he slept outside."
"Janie. Seriously? You're a horrible person."
"I don't like him! You could have him. Just flirt him up a little."
"How will he like me? I'm just a chatterbox of a nerd. I wear these dorky glasses and my hair is a mess. I have no fashion sense. I am the epitome of nerdy girl. Janie, look at you. You're not a bombshell but you know how to get by. Help me!"
"Alright, anything for my girl."

Suri

"Anything happen in those 24 hours?" Suri asked.
"No. It wasn't even 24 hours."
"It doesn't matter. You didn't do anything with him anyway."

Suri was Janie's friend since young. They shared a room together but now that they were both well off they were able to afford their own apartment in New York. Suri was a punk rock type of chick but she works as an accountant. Her hairstyle is always changing and so does the color. She has her own office with interns and some employees. Surie managed to persuade Janie to move to New York from her hometown in Virginia. Although Janie would make more money in Virginia with her job.

"Why are you always like this with guys?"
"Like what?"
"You're always shy. You need to talk more!"
"I don't even like him."
"You haven't had a boyfriend for a century now."
"My last one was Eric wasn't it?"
"Yeah, but that was two years ago. And you didn't have a boyfriend for years before Eric."
"I don't need a boyfriend right now. And plus he's my boss. Colleague in a way."
"No. He's so far from a colleague. And everyone says they don't need a boyfriend but once it's too late they can't find one."
"I really don't need one. I got a job and still a fresh 23 year old."
"I don't care how old you are. But you need a boyfriend."
"You need to take care of yourself first. Did you sort out the Kurt and Phil deal?"
"Yeah. Kurt is out of the picture since you scared him away. Phil is stationed overseas now."
"You have more problems than me so you deal with that first."
"No, my first priority now is to get you a boyfriend."
"You did that with Eric, it didn't work out too well."
"It's just 'cause he's a workaholic. You guys were cute together. He was your type!"
"And I wasn't his type."
"Yeah, you are. You're cute and asian. You don't have the same features of other asians but you still are asian."
"Why so much emphasis on the asian?"
"Eric wanted to try date an asian."
Janie rolled her eyes. "Currently rolling my eyes."
Suri laughs.

The Cold Morning After

Janie stretched and yawned. She blinked and realized she was in the room. She left the room seeing that Logan wasn't there. She came out to see him sleeping in her spot. She quickly got ready and made breakfast. She rummaged through the fridge to see only eggs and sandwich bread. She made toast and eggs with that and grabbed the juice. Logan woke up to the smell of the eggs and the clanked of the pan and spatula. He came in to see Janie in his too-big shirt for her. He smiled but snapped out of it. "What are you doing?"
"Making breakfast. How was sleep last night? Sorry about that."
"No, it's okay. I made the switch myself."
"I guess I can add a little sprinkling of chivalry to your personality summary."
"And I can add cold to yours."
"I'm making breakfast for you now. You better watch your mouth."
Logan put his hands up for surrender. "I'll take us back to shore now." Logan went up to the steering wheel.

They both finished breakfast and got dressed to go back on land. "That was something. Thanks for that. I'll put a good word for you to the ladies at work." Janie said as she waved for a taxi. "You don't have to take a taxi, I'll take you home."
"It's okay."
"I insist."
"I already made you do a lot for me."
"Okay then. That's my chivalry bit. Peace." Logan ran to his car.
"Dick."
***
"How was the trip?" Suri asked.

Trade Sleeping

"Let's go back inside. It's getting kind of chilly." Logan requested.
"Alright." Janie hugged herself and turned down Logan's jacket offer.
"So are we going to go back to shore?"
"Well, it is an overnight stay so I thought we would sleep out here too. It's nice and peaceful."
Janie started getting anxious. "I noticed there's only one bed though. And is it even safe to be out here at night?"
"Well, I can't guarantee that it's safe but it's not that dangerous. We aren't that far out. And we could share the bed since it's a king size."
"Okay." Janie hesitated.
"I have extra pajamas if you want to change into that."
"Uh, sure." Janie grabbed the t-shirt and shorts. She was glad she brought extra underwear in case she had to change from swimming, but she didn't swim so it was clean.
Logan was already in the bedroom waiting for Janie. But Janie went to the dining room where the couch-like seats were. She laid down and used her dress as a blanket. Logan finally noticed that Janie took too long. He came out of the room. "Did you get lost?"
"Huh? No. I just don't want to bother you. I'm okay sleeping out here."
"You sure?"
"Yeah."
Logan went back into the room without a fight.
"He didn't even offer a second time to sleep in the bed. Or trade spots with me." Janie mumbled.
She finally fell asleep to the soft rocking of the boat. Logan was twisting and turning in the room. He couldn't fall asleep knowing Janie was out there. He went back out. "Janie? You could sleep in the bed with me. I won't touch you, because I don't even like you. Janie?"
He went up closer to see that she was fast asleep. "How could she sleep in this position?" He made the decision to trade spots with her. He carried her into the bedroom and tucked her in. He knelt beside the bed and looked at Janie. He smoothed her hair out of her face and left the room to sleep in the dining room.

Sunset

"Dinner is ready!" Logan called for Janie.
Janie went back into the kitchen with her finished glass of wine.
"Did all the exploring yourself?"
"Yeah."
"Sorry. I really wanted to show you around myself."
"I think I'm capable."
"Well, you are new at this yacht stuff."
"There he goes." Janie thought. "There's no way he'll want to sleep with me."
Logan placed the salty soup first. "Tomato and crab soup first. You already got a taste of this so you know what to expect. I'm not that great of a chef so yeah, dig in."
Logan sat down and watched as Janie took her first sip. "I already know what this tastes like, you don't have to look that intently."
"Just wanted to make sure you actually like it."
"Well, I don't like it but it works."
"Is it bad? Be honest."
"Let's just say if some other girl was in my spot she wouldn't think you're hot anymore."
"Oh, it's that bad. I mean you fixed it."
"I barely fixed it."
"Fine. You want the next course?"
"Do I have a choice?"
He brought out the plate. There was a mess going on on the plate. "This is a seafood pasta."
"We'll being eating a lot of seafood today aren't we?"
"Yeah. I kinda went out to catch everything for today." Logan said softly.
"What?"
"Yeah, there's a bunch of seafood in there."
"Okay. Like what?"
"Scallops, lobster, and clams."
Janie took a bite. It was worse but she didn't want to be mean and ruin Logan's efforts. "Mmmm."
"Good?"
"Much better than the soup."
"Good to hear."
Logan took a bite. "Bleh!" He spit everything out. "It's just so bad! How could this be good? You know what? Let's just eat the dessert." Logan grabbed Janie's plate and his and dumped the food in the trash.
"You didn't have to be nice and force yourself to eat it."
"Well, you made a lot of effort didn't you?"
"It's okay. Let's eat the ice cream." He went back in the kitchen and grabbed the tub of ice cream. "I had to cheat with this one."
"Let's it on the sun deck."
"Okay. We could watch the sunset since we finished dinner early."
Logan went out first with the wine bottle and glasses and Janie followed with two spoons and the tub of ice cream. They both sat down and dug into the ice cream.
"Sorry, you'll have to go hungry. Your first experience with fine dining and this yacht was botched by my cooking. I should've hired a chef."
Janie ignored him and downed her glass of wine.
"You look beautiful today in your dress."
Janie didn't say anything but stuff her mouth with ice cream.
"It's so beautiful out too. Oh! The sun is going down."
Janie looked up and watched as the sky got darker from the pink and orange. Logan looked at Janie as she was enjoying the view. "She actually looks beautiful tonight." He thought.
Janie looked back the tub of ice cream, but before she could she caught Logan's gaze. Her heart beat fast and she blushed again. "This ice cream is good." She said to get him out of his gaze.
"Oh, yeah. You can't go wrong with Haagen Dazs." Janie smiled and continued shoveling the ice cream out.

Rose Petals

"Everyone must be jealous of us today." Logan said to Janie as they are walking on the dock.
"They shouldn't be."
Logan jumped onto his yacht and put a hand out to Janie. She ignored his hand and stumbled to get on. He grabbed her immediately and propped her down. "Welcome aboard the Pretty Lady. The yacht's name is Pretty Lady, not you."
"Thanks."
"Alright, let's get this boat out to sea."
Logan went into the bridge. He steered them out of the dock area. Janie sat at the bow. She was enjoying the breeze and the sun shining down on her. She held her hat down as Logan sped up a little faster. He put the anchor down and they were both relaxing.
"Nice weather today, eh?" Logan asked.
"Yeah."
"You're not going to be talking much today, right?"
Janie didn't answer.
"That means yes. You want me to show you around?"
"No."
"Okay. What about wine?"
"No, thanks."
"I'll get some for myself then."
Logan left Janie out on the bow for while. He was actually preparing the dinner. Janie walked around the yacht and explored by herself. She entered the kitchen to see Logan tasting something in the pot.
"You wanna taste test it? I don't know how you'll like it."
Janie came over and looked inside the pot. She took a sip. It was really salty but she wanted to be nice for once and complimented it. "It tastes just right. Maybe add some water or sugar."
"Sugar?"
"Yeah."
"Alright. You said it."
He added a cup of water and a big pinch of sugar.
He tasted it again. "Hmm, there's a difference."
"Where let me taste it." It was actually much better than before but still not as good. "How about I continue the cooking."
"No. I'll be doing everything. How about you pour yourself a glass of wine."
"I think that's the only thing I'll be able to eat or drink this evening." Janie thought to herself. She pour herself a big glass of wine. And went out of the kitchen. She walked into the bedroom. There was a king sized bed with some candles on the side tables around the bed. There was even rose petals on the bed. Jane was getting nervous. What Morgan said could be true.

On Top and Underneath

"What? I can't believe you won!" Morgan held Janie's shoulders. "What did you guys even talk about back there in the cafeteria? Were you in trouble? Did he tell you that you won the raffle? Was this contest rigged?"
"Morgan, calm down. Breathe. We talked about nothing. No. Yes. And I don't think so."
"Well, at least you won and not that bitch Katie."
Janie chuckled. "It feels like I lost instead of won. I'd rather that chick Katie won."
"No! She can't. She's always on Logan's dick."
"I'm getting back to work."
"Fine. What are you bringing?"
"It's only a day trip. Not a total vacation, I don't have to bring anything."
"I'll let you have him for that one day. You can have sex with him."
"What? No!"
"What? You guys are bound to have sex on that boat."
"No, we aren't."
"I know you don't like him but use him for sex. Who cares if you hate him. Only look at his body that night."
Janie rolled her eyes. She walked back to her desk.
"You have to wear something sexy on top and underneath! I'll pick something for you."
"Congrats." Eddie said.
"Don't even start."
"Okay."

Blushing

"Fine, you don't have to spend the day with me. We'll be on my yacht together. We'll watch the sunset and drink wine. I bet you've never done that before."
Janie clenches her fists and looks at Logan's tray.
"Have you ever been on a boat? Let alone fine dining? Must have not. No one would take you."
"Well, now you have to, joke's on you."
"Joke's on you, your first time doing it is with me."
"Yep, joke's on me. But you have to take this dorky girl out instead of the other pretty girls in this company."
"Such a shame."
"But I bet you take them out regardless of this stupid raffle."
"You could be right."
"I am."
Logan winked and drank his sparkling water. He grabbed his tray and finally walked out of the cafeteria grabbing Janie. She trailed behind him and noticed everyone in the room staring at the two of them.
"Nine, right?" Logan asked.
"This must be the first time you've ever even press the button."
"You're right. My guard does it for me. You should feel honored to be apart of this."
"I don't feel it yet."
"Do you feel it now?" He grabbed her waist and faced her. His head bowed down to her height. His face was close to hers. Their noses were about to touch each other. Janie's heart beat fast. She was hot and blushing. He touched her cheeks. Janie didn't even blink, but kept her eyes on his. "You're blushing."
Janie pushed him off. "You can't see it."
"But I felt it."
"This is sexual harassment."
"Blah blah blah. It's not harassment when you like it." Logan chuckled and stepped off the elevator.
"How did he even time it so right?" Janie had to stay in the elevator to get to floor 9.
